Can you kick it?

Jarod | July 4, 2006

Now there’s an idea. In Berlin, another football was found today. Filled with concrete – 10 kilos. It was ball number eight. Close by, a graffiti said “Can you kick it?”. The balls were all tied with chains to benches, trees or poles. Two young guys got light injuries trying to kick.

That’s creative, me says. I usually just keep telling everyone how I would only go to the final if I get the tickets for free – scares ‘em off, too.

By the way, a colleague of mine paid more than 500 Euros on Ebay for one ticket to the semi final today, a last minute purchase, and the worst category available. What a freak. You can get a really great graphics card for that! *Sigh*

The same guy has his right hand in bandages. Why? Because in the quarter final he kept waving a flag for two hours straight. What’s wrong with this world?

Update: They caught the guys and found more primed balls. They are from Austria. Of course.

Trendsetters

Jarod | July 2, 2006

I didn’t know Google offered this kind of service, and I really should have expected it. Naturally a search engine provider, especially one so data-hungry as Google, hosts tons of statistics. Google Trends (although still a beta!) lets us have a small glimpse at what the world searches for.

The need for physical … interaction seems to be pretty high in India and Pakistan. Seeing this by the way, makes me I wonder why I still am a valid target for all those spam mails. Yeah, India again. (I will retire on the Philippines. More love, less filth ;) )

All IT workers saw this coming: AOL at the end of the food chain. And now we know when exactly the latest hype started, or at least when the marketing guys bought the new buzzword: In last year’s summer break.

Another summer break story in 2005 was the awful San Andreas discussion. It went as fast as it came as you can see here. Also video game related: The winner takes it all. And there can be only one.

Star Trek is dead. And even Star Wars only is interesting when a new movie is released. At least a small spike was caused by Serenity last fall.

Of course you can also tell which political issues moved the world. This shows, WMD started the war as planned, then quickly became obsolete.

“We are pope” german rainbow press exclaimed in spring 2005. What worries me a bit is that in Holland Hitler is obviously more interesting than the pope.

Well and of course, this isn’t very sursprising. I hope we won’t win this or the madness won’t stop any time soon.

And just for the record: This doesn’t look too good! Warm up your Google Search bots! ;)
